Switchee is supporting a Disability Confident movement which acts as a change agent in today’s world of employment. Switchee has made a conscious decision to support our community by thinking differently about disability and taking action to improve how we recruit, retain and develop people with disabilities.

Being Disability Confident is a unique opportunity for Switchee to offer better and fulfilling career options for people with disabilities, while diversifying our teams and contributing to communities we serve and represent as a business.

There are over 11 million people with a long term illness, impairment or disability in Great Britain. And while Switchee is still a growing business we hope that our communication and campaigns will reach more people with disabilities and encourage them to apply for our roles as well as promote this movement within our industry and network.

Things we do now

Recruitment

We ensure our recruitment process is inclusive and accessible. We do that through creating great and personalised application processes for each of our applicants. We offer interviews to all candidates who meet the minimum required criteria for the role without discrimination against disabilities. We conduct language checks and decode all of our job adverts, before they are published online to ensure that our comms are inclusive. We offer flexible and full remote working roles for people with disabilities that may prevent them from being able to commute easily.

Supporting the Team

Our management teams check-in on people wellbeing regularly and wellbeing initiatives and needs remain our top priority when it comes to monthly manager catch-ups as well. This way we able to anticipate and provide reasonable adjustments as required supporting any existing team members who may acquire a disability or long term health condition, enabling them to stay in work.

Pay Commitment

It goes without saying to treat all employees fairly and pay employees with disabilities equally. Switchee strives to be a diverse and inclusive employer encouraging input from all and rewarding our people in a transparent manner.

What we aim to achieve in the near future

There are multiple levels to being a Disability Confident employer and just as with any new initiative it is a journey where we learn and grow as a team and as a company. We aim to focus our efforts on becoming more disability confident by implementing and following through other progressive interventions that would enable people with disabilities to be their full selves at Switchee.
